Like anything in life, you need a good foundation
Basic Gun Handling before you should feel comfortable enough to either carry a concealed firearm, defend yourself or a loved one in your home, or even just go to the range with friends on the weekend.
First things first - The 4 Basic Gun Safety Rules. KNOW THEM! Live By Them. If you follow these rules it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to have a negligent discharge with a gun.
- Treat All Firearms as if they are loaded
- Never put anything in front of the muzzle which you do not intend to destroy
- Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on your intended target
- Know your target AND what is beyond (around ) it
It is the intention of SAFE to make sure that every person knows how to operate their firearm while following the above rules.
Distractions or Complacency can lead to a negligent discharge. We all know that Mr Murphy (Murphy’s Law) has a way of showing up when we least expect it. That is exactly the time when you will be having an issue with your gun, or NOT concentrating on what you are doing.
We Need to Prevent This From Happening.
